Inspired by the idea of communal living, the house was designed to flow naturally from one shared space to the next, creating a sense of openness, connection and ease.

The open-plan layout moves effortlessly from the large country kitchen into the dining room, lounge, linking areas and games room. At the heart of it all is a beautiful central courtyard, a defining feature of the house. All the downstairs bedrooms open onto this courtyard, offering both privacy and a peaceful indoor-outdoor feel that echoes classic Pompeii architecture.

The kitchen is made for gathering, with a generous farm-style table, a scullery tucked neatly away, and plenty of space to cook together. The lounge centres around a large fireplace with deep, comfortable couches, perfect for long conversations, board games or quiet evenings in. Outside, a wide veranda offers ample seating and is fully equipped with a built-in concrete braai, Weber braais and a gas braai, with farm wood readily available for guests.

Beyond the house, the farm opens up into meadows, dams and sunset views. Guests are welcome to enjoy catch-and-release fishing at the dam, complete with a lapa offering electricity, running water and a picnic area. The grounds are home to grazing cows, birdlife and two families of blesbok in nearby enclosures, adding to the gentle rhythm of farm life.

Cedarwood House also includes a games room with table tennis, a tennis court with rackets and a basketball hoop, and a swimming pool for warm Midlands afternoons.
